What to do

Mellieha, the northern-most village in Malta, is located on the tip of the island. It has become a magnet for tourist of all ages and walks of life for a multitude of reasons.

To start with, Mellieha retains its charm as a typical Maltese village. Even today, its main activities rotate around fishing and agriculture, as well as, of course, tourism.

The village is situated atop a hill that overlooks the largest sandy beach on the island – a truly stunning sight, as well as the 4km channel between Malta, Comino and Gozo. Its historic centre consists of the Parish Square, with its imposing 16th century church, the 2,000-year-old Sanctuary, WWII shelters and other attractions.

Home to around 7,000 people, Mellieha also has all the necessities required for your holiday – from pharmacies to supermarkets, bars to cafés, and a fantastic selection of really good restaurants.

Meanwhile, visit Mellieha during the local festa-week (held at the start of September) to enjoy celebrations including brass bands, fireworks, religious processions, traditional delicacies and much more. Alternatively, winter promises some peaceful rest away from it all while summer is the ideal time for a well-deserved break with family or friends in the sunshine.

Indeed, Mellieha has so much to offer all year round – and we’re sure that a visit here will leave a fantastic impression.
